Professional & Community Education and Events at the DADS Learning Institute
learning institute

The Department of Alcohol & Drug Services is an organization whose staff continues to learn by working in an environment where continuous change is the norm. The substance abuse field continues to evolve and expand rapidly, with research providing new understanding to help guide the response to substance abuse problems. It is clear that substance abuse affects every part of the community and requires a community-wide response. This response involves several related disciplines and fields.

The Learning Institute was created to address the need for continual learning and renewal. Experts from around the country provide the general public, as well as staff from various agencies and community organizations, the most current research-based information about substance abuse problems.

Many courses and workshops offered by the Learning Institute satisfy continuing education requirements for professionals licensed with the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), California State Board of Registered Nurses (BRN), California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC), California Association of Alcohol and Drug Educators (CAADE), and California Association of Driving Driver Treatment Programs (CADDTP). The staff of DADS Learning Institute welcomes feedback from participants about the quality and usefulness of training, as well as any suggestions for new training opportunities.
