Suboxone Treatment

The Suboxone Treatment Program

Suboxone is a prescription drug for the treatment of addiction to opiate painkillers and street opiate drugs including heroin.  The primary active ingredient in Suboxone is buprenorphine.  Like methadone, buprenorphine suppresses withdrawal symptoms and blocks the effects of other opioid drugs.  It can be used for detox and long-term maintenance treatment.

The Department of Alcohol & Drug Services is the County’s first to use Suboxone for the treatment of prescription pain medication dependence, heroin addiction, and methadone or other opioid dependence.
